In my guilt files are several stories about the Mormon practice of baptism for the dead. Many stories have just done an inadequate job of explaining this doctrine and practice of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Catholic? Baptist? Mormon? Meet Marco Rubio
After Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s election in 2010, questions emerged concerning the religious background of the Tea Party favorite with Cuban-American roots.
Pod people: More on Romney's tithing
Last week, I critiqued a Sacramento Bee story tied to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s Mormon tithing.
BuzzFeed on Mormon, well, you know ...
It’s a subject that causes editors to sweat, knowing that their newsroom switchboards will almost certainly to explode if they dare to cover it. We are talking, of course, about (cue: drumroll) Mormon underwear.
But I read it in The New York Times!

Most of the time, your ears will catch the mistakes.
Gingrich and the evangelical vote
I’m usually not very good at political prognostication but last week I told my husband that I thought Newt Gingrich would win in South Carolina. He laughed at me. Well look who’s laughing now! Actually, I have no idea who is laughing, but I do know that the entire DC political class of media and pundit types are freaking out about what happened. It was pretty interesting to watch Twitter reactions from all types as they process that Republican voters might not be ready to settle on Mitt Romney.
From vulture capitalist to vulture tither?
ABC Newsâ investigative desk is out with a scandalous report tying together presidential politics and religious tithing. Apparently when wealthy people tithe at the same rate as less wealthy people, it can add up to more gross dollars. Who knew?
