Generic conflicts between Mitt and Liberty students

Before we get to the coverage of Mitt Romney’s visit to Liberty University, I’d like to flash back to the scene-setter story that ran in The Washington Post on the day before that commencement address.

Mendacity, Mitt and Mormonism

MSNBC host Martin Bashir has a show that the cable network pitches as “Martin Bashir takes viewers across America and the globe to uncover the hidden side to the day’s events, with thoughtful and provocative interviews with the people you’re talking about.” It turns out it’s even worse than it sounds.

A 'war on women' ceasefire?

As anyone who has read GetReligion over the last three or so months might have picked up, I occasionally disapproved of the way many media outlets took serious concerns that some folks have over Planned Parenthood or religious liberty and turned them into a non-stop meme regarding a “War on Women.” I was pretty subtle about it, but you may have noticed me bringing it up once or twice (OK, two dozen at last count).

BYU Gets Better?

So there’s this college in Provo, Utah, that’s run by a socially conservative church. All of the students who choose to attend the school agree to adhere to a pretty strict honor code that governs the way they dress, forbids them from drinking alcohol, and explicitly bans students from having sex. I am, of course, talking about Brigham Young University and it shouldn’t exactly be news that the place exists or that students there are held to pretty strict moral standards.

Hunger Games: The dog that didn't bark
